What is gravity? Yea, we all know the basic 5th grade description about how masses attract each other. But what really is gravity? How does the Earth know that the sun is there? How is it's influence felt? Luckily for most of us, people like Albert Einstein already worked a lot of that out. All we need to do is find some way to verify that the theory is correct. Thats what the LIGO project is all about.
I work on the campus of the California Institute of Technology , better known as Caltech. My niche within LIGO is as the supervisor of the technical shop for the Control and Data Systems Group. That means that I'm in charge of 4 to 8 technicians and handle much of the fabrication and testing of the LIGO electronics.
Caltech is a good place to work - much more laid back than my last job at Lockheed Martin.
If you'd like a better idea of what I do, you can visit the LIGO home page, or check out my personal work page.
I will ocassionally post something here about my current work, so come back often and check it out. There's not much to put up for now - things are pretty slow.
